Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS) is one of the largest Medicare contractors in the nation. As a Medicare Part B Carrier, WPS began processing claims for our Wisconsin customers when the Medicare program began in 1966. We expanded claim coverage to serve customers in Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota, and today process more than 100 million claims per year.

With the creation of Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) contracts, WPS understood it would have to present the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with reputable Part A Medicare experience. To accomplish this goal, in 2005, WPS joined with Medicare Fiscal Intermediary, Mutual of Omaha. The Medicare division of Mutual of Omaha began with the inception of the Medicare program in 1966 and extends services to all 50 states. In 2006, Mutual of Omaha Medicare Part A processed 20 million claims for their customers.

This venture brings together two organizations that have over 80 years combined experience processing Medicare claims.

On September 5, 2007, the CMS announced WPS is the MAC for Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.

WPS will continue to serve all of our customers, providers, beneficiaries, and CMS in the new MAC environment. We will move forward together by offering first-rate customer service, utilizing the most up-to-date technology, and working to provide a valuable and informative Website which will meet our customer's needs.
