Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)/835

Home Provider Part A Medicare Areas EDI ERA 835

Advantage to receiving ERA instead of the paper Remittance Advice (RA) include:

  • Quicker communication. The ERA is available the day your claims are paid, rather than waiting for delivery of the paper Remittance Advice (RA) which is mailed through the United States Postal Service.
  • The ERA can be downloaded and stored for future use.

CMS recommends that providers accept ERA transmissions in lieu of mailed SPRs.  Communication software is needed in order to send and receive files.  WPS Medicare does not provide communication software.

**The ERA replaces the paper Remittance Advice (RA)**
