Delay in Implementation of the PS&R Redesign
We have previously notified you that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is preparing to release a redesigned PS&R System. The new PS&R system (Redesigned PS&R) uses current technology, provides user friendly reports, and is easier to access and maintain. The Redesigned PS&R will have claims data loaded into a database which will be housed at the CMS. Approved users, including FIs, MACs, and providers, will be able to access the Redesigned PS&R via the Internet.
The Redesigned PS&R was originally expected to be operational in May 2007, however the implementation date for the Redesigned PS&R system has been delayed. On May 29, 2007 we notified you that the CMS expected the Redesigned PS&R System would be utilized for all cost reports with fiscal years ending July 31, 2007. However the system has again been delayed and the new implementation date has not been determined. Therefore cost reports will continue to be filed and settled using the current (Legacy) PS&R System until we receive further notice from the CMS.
As the implementation date for the Redesigned PS&R System approaches, CMS plans to issue detailed information related to the Redesigned PS&R System and the transition. If you have any questions, please contact the Audit Supervisor assigned to your facility.
