Limitation of liability is a long-standing provision of Medicare law. It protects beneficiaries who are furnished items or services that are not considered reasonable and necessary and therefore would not be paid by the Medicare Program. This presentation provides information on recognizing a non-covered service and helps in understanding the new Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) rules.
