I am billing for chiropractic manipulative therapy services, and my claims are being denied. I have reviewed the procedure codes and they appear to be correct. What is the problem?
|

You must append an "AT" modifier to all chiropractic services which are to be considered for payment. "AT" indicates that the service provided is of an "active, or corrective" nature. Otherwise, Medicare considers chiropractic services to be maintenance therapy, which is non-covered.
