Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Database (MPFSDB)/Relative Value File
The Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Database (MPFSDB), also known as the Relative Value File, is a file that provides a basis of payment under Medicare Part B. CMS provides the MPFS to all carriers nationally and assures consistent claims processing nationally.
The file contains the associated relative value units, a fee schedule status indicator, and various payment policy indicators needed for payment adjustment (i.e., payment of assistant at surgery, team surgery, bilateral surgery, global period time) for more than 10,000 physician services.
