Physician Scarcity Areas (PSA)
The Physician Scarcity Area bonus payment was in effect for services rendered from January 1, 2005, to June 30, 2008. No PSA bonus payment will be issued for services rendered after June 30, 2008.
The PSA incentive payment was issued quarterly and was 5 percent of the amount paid by Medicare for professional services performed in a PSA. The PSA bonus was paid on eligible services rendered from January 1, 2005, through June 30, 2008.
