What is a National Coverage Provision (NCP)?
National Coverage Provisions (NCPs) are developed and published by WPS Medicare in order to provide information and clarification to the medical and beneficiary communities, especially when similar subjects are addressed in various different sources.
NCPs are composed of excerpts and quotes from various program manuals, which are collated into a single document. NCPs also apply to all Medicare jurisdictions. Direct language from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) language is italicized.
