Self-Service - Beneficiary Website
This is the fourth in a series of articles about Self-Service Technology. The article today will focus on the Beneficiary Website: http://www.medicare.gov ![]()
This Website is primarily designed for Medicare recipients and their advocates; however, it does contain some good information for providers.
The Website is designed to help beneficiaries make sense of the Medicare program. It is easy to navigate and has considerably less content than the CMS Provider Website. The articles and educational materials are written in simpler terms than many of the corresponding provider materials. This means that the materials on this Website can be very helpful as a starting point to understand complex subjects, especially when providers need to explain those subjects to their patients. Providers can use this Website to order publications geared towards Medicare patients. The direct link to view the available publications is http://www.medicare.gov/Publications/ ![]()
There are two comparison tools available for patient use that compare hospitals and nursing homes within a local area. These tools may be helpful when referring your patient or helping your patient select either of these options.
We recommend reviewing this Website to gain a better understanding of what the patient is being told about Medicare. Also, take advantage of the free publications and use them to help you explain the Medicare program to your patients.
