Sermorelin
Sermorelin (Geref) (HCPCS code Q0515 sermorelin acetate injection, 1 microgram) is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring substance that causes the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. Growth hormone is naturally produced by the pituitary gland and is necessary for growth in children. Sermorelin is indicated for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children. It is administered subcutaneously daily usually at bedtime.
WPS, the Medicare Part B carrier for Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota, has determined that this drug is considered "usually self-administered" and therefore non-covered.
