Here are some tips to keep in mind if you are about to or are
taking drugs or medications:
- Review the WPS
Preferred Drugs Guide (PDF). This provides a list of drugs
that are preferred by your WPS health plan that saves you in
lower copayments. Drugs are listed alphabetically by drug
category and brand-name. It provides suggestions on how you
can save on prescription costs, safety symbols for drugs not
recommended for different ages, during pregnancy, and more.
- Consider generic
drugs (PDF). Generic drugs are FDA-approved equivalents
of brand-name drugs, but without the added costs of research
and advertising. If you purchase the brand-name version instead
of the generic, you may have to pay a higher copay as well
the cost difference between the two drugs.
