2008 Ray Koenig Charitable Foundation
Scholarship Recipients

WPS Health Insurance is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 Ray Koenig Charitable Foundation Scholarships for children of employees of WPS and its subsidiaries. Ray Koenig was the first President of WPS. Each scholarship winner receives a $1,000-a-year, four-year grant.

Emily Grant Emily Grant graduated from Evansville High School with a 3.41 grade point average. She will attend the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.  Emily is the daughter of Joyce Parizo (Claims Examiner, WPS TRICARE Operations).
Alison Martin Alison Martin, daughter of Laura Martin (File Coordinator, WPS Medicare Operations), graduated from Marion High School with a 3.98 grade point average. Alison will attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
Kelly Power Kelly Power graduated from Verona Area High School with a 3.75 grade point average. She is the daughter of Larinda Power (Redeterminations Director, WPS Medicare Operations). Kelly will be attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Paige Rice Paige Rice, daughter of Kelly Jaskowiak (Supervisor, WPS Member Services), graduated from Mineral Point High School. She will be attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
Corwin Scanlon Corwin Scanlon graduated from Mauston High School. He is the son of Delmar Scanlon (Senior Programmer/Analyst, WPS Information Systems). Corwin will be attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Chloe Scheller Chloe Scheller, daughter of Peter Scheller (SNR Analyst, WPS Medicare Operations), graduated from James Madison Memorial High School. She will attend the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay or Milwaukee.
Matthew Thayer Matthew Thayer graduated from Bellevue East High School with a 4.85 grade point average. He is the son of Robin Thayer (Customer Service Representative, WPS Medicare Operations). Matthew will attend the Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa this fall.

In addition to the children of employees, WPS has awarded Ray Koenig Charitable Foundation Scholarships to one student from each of the following local high schools: La Follette, Madison East, and Monona Grove.

Alisha David graduated from Madison East High School, ranked in the top 4% of her graduating class. Alisha plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison, to study genetics and pharmagenetics.
Garrett Eklof graduated from Madison La Follette High School also in the top 4% of his graduating class. He is an Iowa State University recruit and hopes to study law, political science or mechanical engineering.
Christina Flaherty graduated from Monona Grove High School. She ranked in the top 4% of her graduating class and will attend Winona State University this fall. Christina will study music education and hopes to become a choir teacher.
