“Alternative Choice is a great, lower-cost plan for people with short-term gaps in coverage or those who want to take additional time to assess their options under the health care reform law,” said Jim Baird, vice president of individual sales.
WPS Alternative Choice offers coverage period options of 30 to 364 days, or two back-to-back six-month policies. (Members choosing back-to-back policies will avoid additional underwriting, and the pre-existing condition exclusion on the second six-month policy will not include any newly diagnosed conditions, symptoms, or treatment incurred during the first six-month policy. Back-to-back six-month policies must have a Jan. 1 effective date.)
WPS Alternative Choice replaces the WPS Instant Protection Plan and is only available for Wisconsin residents.
