WPS Charitable Foundation issues scholarships for 2014

10 students to receive $1,250 for higher education



MADISON, Wis.—June 30, 2014

WPS announces the recipients of the WPS Charitable Foundation scholarships for 2014. The following 10 students will receive a one-year Ray Koenig Memorial Scholarship (valued at $1,250 each), which is named in honor of the first president of WPS. The selected applicants are:

John Bauer, son of Robert Bauer (Madison-IT Security), graduated from Poynette High School (Poynette, WI) and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cori Bergantzel, daughter of Sandy Bergantzel (Omaha-Medicare), graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School (Council Bluffs, IA) and will be attending Iowa Western Community College. Micaela Calabrese, daughter of Rachel Calabrese (Madison-Accounting), graduated in 2013 and is attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Ariel Crego,daughter of Dian Blackbourn-Crego (Madison-Medicare), graduated from Belmont High School (Belmont, WI) and will be attending Coe College. Boman Groff, son of Susan Groff (Omaha-Medicare), graduated from Central High School (Omaha, NE) and will be attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Britany Hale, daughter of Marcy Morefield (Marion-Medicare), graduated from Benton Consolidated High School (Benton, IL) and will be attending Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Hannah Johnson, daughter of Michelle Johnson (Madison-Health Insurance), graduated from East High School (Madison, WI) and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Courtney Lawlor, daughter of Timothy Lawlor (Madison-IT), graduated in 2013 and is attending the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN. Kelsey Runge, daughter of Heather Runge (De Pere-Sales), graduated from Kimberly High School (Kimberly, WI) and will be attending the University of Alabama. Troy Showers, son of Sherri Showers (Madison-Actuarial), graduated in 2013 and is attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.


Sixty children of employees of WPS and its subsidiaries qualified this year. Characteristics of the applicants include:
