WPS Health Insurance, Wisconsin's leading not-for-profit health insurer and provider of affordable group and individual health insurance, recently added Ellen Foley, a veteran journalist and marketing communications leader, to its executive team, President and CEO Mike Hamerlik announced today. Foley joins WPS as vice president of corporate communications.
"Ellen will be an integral part of our efforts as we take on the opportunities presented by health care reform," Hamerlik said. "Ellen's deep knowledge of strategic efforts makes her an invaluable asset to the senior leadership team charged with growing WPS in the near term and laying the groundwork for continued success in the long term," Hamerlik said. He added that the company was able to hire after several retirements and efficiencies made at the top administrative levels.
Foley is a 30-year veteran of daily journalism, the former editor of the Wisconsin State Journal, and was a leader of the $134 million successful referendum at Madison College in 2010. Her expertise as a social media and digital marketing executive are chronicled in the soon-to-be-released book, Social Works.
At WPS, she will manage day-to-day communications with employees, insurance agents, health care providers, members, and prospective customers.
